Synthetic microbes will kill weeds and increase crop yields

Herbicides are neither bad nor good, but they are too effective and detrimental to all wildlife. SynComs are very much like them – they can also do both harm and good. At the same time, microbial communities in contact with other microscopic creatures in the soil often do not survive competition and die. This is why herbicides are needed, to suppress the activity of existing microbes and increase the chances of synthetic assemblies to defeat them.
