South Korea has decided to legalise this new reality. Thus, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy together with the National Police Agency announced the entry into force of the Law on Intelligent Robots, according to which their owners will receive special licences for the right to move robots freely, but with a caveat – under the control of the operator.
The law also defines some parameters of “roaming” robots – weight less than 500 kg, speed of movement not more than 15 km/h. Before going out on the street, “candidates” must pass a 16-point test, in particular, to demonstrate their skills of staying in designated areas and navigating pedestrian crossings.
